Satisfaction as a Meditation

It has been said that the source of all of our suffering is essentially our dissatisfaction. We're clinging to that which we don't want to let go of, and we're avoiding that which we don't want. So in a way, the relief of suffering is actually a constant state of satisfaction. A constant state of, "I'm satisfied!"

And now that I think about it that way, I'm reminded of a friend of mine, his name was Jerry Jud. He lived to be just shy of a hundred years old. And one thing he used to say all the time was, "I'm satisfied, Lord, I'm satisfied." And in retrospect, I think that was one of his meditation practices, his constant assertion of satisfaction with whatever was going on. "I'm satisfied. I'm satisfied." It's a pretty good meditation.

I'm gonna give it a shot today, why don't you?
