All Is Poetry, All Is Meaning

Today let’s explore why each of us is, at our core, a poet. From the ancient threads of our pre-linguistic consciousness to the modern ways we describe science and art, we’re all tapping into something grander than mere words can hold.

Why We’re All Poets

  1. Language as Metaphor
Every time we speak or write, we’re using metaphors. Whether you’re explaining a new discovery or sharing a personal insight, you’re creating a poem of sorts—an attempt to gesture toward a truth beyond your complete reach.

  2. Expressions of the Indescribable
The cosmos resists easy explanation, yet we still try. “The Ultimate Tao that can be named is not the Ultimate Tao,” say the Taoists. We must, of necessity, rely on images and analogies, painting pictures with language. Although we may identify as scientists, artists, or spiritual seekers, deep down we share a poetic impulse that unites us.

Meaning Beyond Social Constructs

There’s a tangible worth woven into the fabric of reality—something that goes beyond mere social agreement. Whether you find it in the equations of physics or the verses of a poem, there’s a resonance that feels more than invented. Some poetry is simply better than other poetry.

  • Value in the Cosmos
We don’t just project value onto the world; we discover it. There’s a living presence in nature and experience that insists on its significance.

  • Poetry as an Invitation
Our poetic efforts shine a light on this inherent worth. In naming it—however imperfectly—we acknowledge a truth that existed long before we gave it words.

We Add Our Verse to the Ongoing Poem

When I share my work—writing, music, retreats, or one-on-one sessions—I’m adding a few lines to a grand, collaborative poem. Every voice matters in this unfolding story.

  • An Offering, Not a Final Word
No single piece of writing can capture the full Mystery, but each adds color and depth.

  • Shared Exploration
We’re all in conversation with the indescribable. Whether we turn toward another’s “poem” or away, the song goes on, waiting for us to recognize its chorus.

Embrace Your Own Poetic Nature

You, too, are a poet. Your words, your instincts, and your insights all join in creating new ways to honor the inherent value in life.

  • Honor Your Instincts
Trust the stirrings of intuition that lead you to deeper understanding.

  • Invite the Mystery
Let the cosmos reveal its subtle gifts. Allow yourself to be moved by the resonance you feel in your heart.

Final Thoughts

Seeing ourselves as poets opens us to wonder. It reminds us there is more to life than the definitions we create. In recognizing that each of us contributes verse to a much larger poem, we find a kind of kinship and a sense that we belong in this wide tapestry of existence.
